Summary
- The Maritime Heritage Survey, also known as the Florida Maritime Project, Florida Maritime Heritage Survey or Maritime Heritage Survey Project was a field project examining the maritime folklife of the Apalachicola region of Florida, including fishing, shrimping, oystering, boatbuilding, fish houses, oyster shucking, net making, seafood festivals; beliefs about the weather, luck, and religious beliefs; and other occupational lore, including gardening, housekeeping, food preparation, Audio interviews were recorded in Florida by Barbara Beauchamp, Helen Cooper Floyd, Ormond Loomis, Nancy Nusz, Marcus Hepburn, and David Taylor from July 15, 1986 - November 11, 1986. The collection also includes field notes, correspondence, contracts, the draft of "How to document local maritime cultural resources," audio recording logs, photograph logs, contact sheets, photographic reference slides, press releases, and clippings.
